Man charged with allegedly biting two LTA officers in Woodlands

SINGAPORE – A man was arraigned in court on October 30 for allegedly biting two Land Transport Authority (LTA) enforcement officers.

Bryan Chang Yi Hsien, 31, was charged with two counts of intentionally causing harm with intent to deter a public servant from performing his official duties.

The charge sheets make no mention of why he bit them.

The alleged incident occurred on October 29 at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the shared sidewalk in front of 888 Visual Optics, an eyeglasses store in The Woodlands.

Court documents show that Chang bit LTA officer Muhammad Sirat Abdul Guffoor on the arm and punched him several times in the face and neck.

He also allegedly bit the right wrist of a second officer, Mr Hairudin Hassan.

Chang’s case was adjourned until the investigation is completed, and the next hearing is scheduled for November 27.

For each count of willfully causing harm to deter a government official from performing his duties, Chang could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison and a fine or prison term.
