Department of Justice brings rape and sexual assault charges against Sandro Muhlach’s alleged perpetrators

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has officially filed rape and sexual assault charges against former television consultants Jojo Tawasil Nones and Richard Dode Cruz following allegations made by actor Sandro Muhlach.

Acting Attorney General Richard Anthony Fadullon confirmed that the charges were based on Muhlach’s detailed account and positive identification of the accused. “Based on our prosecutor’s investigation, it appears that the victim has definitely identified the two people who abused her and has also detailed the details of what happened to her,” Fadullon said in a statement.

Fadullon noted that although the defendants’ only defense was denial, the weight of the positive identification made by the victim and her detailed description of the incident played a significant role in the prosecutor’s decision. “We know that under the law, positive identification is the strongest form of evidence and denial itself is the weakest,” he added.

Attorney Maggie Garduque, representing the Nones and Cruz, said she would issue an official response after reviewing the Justice Department’s decision and the basis for the charges.

During Senate hearings earlier this month, Muhlach identified Nones and Cruz as his alleged perpetrators, detailing that the incident occurred on July 20, the night of the GMA Awards. Muhlach stated that the accused provided him with wine and P500 pennies and then placed a “white substance” on the table, allegedly instructing him on how to use it.

The actor claimed he was then dragged onto the bed and attacked by both men.
