Uni addresses students dressed as P.Diddy with baby oil for Halloween

San Diego State University condemned the “deeply offensive” costumes

San Diego State University is pushing back against claims that two of its students dressed up as P.Diddy and applied baby oil on Halloween. Both students have found themselves in the internet spotlight after being inspired by P Diddy’s recent allegations about their Halloween costumes.

The man dressed as P. Diddy wore makeup that left him in blackface, with a dark jacket and bow tie. The woman next to him was wearing a pink hat and shirt and had a sign that read “Johnson’s Baby,” referring to a brand of baby oil.

San Diego State University told The Tab: “The use of blackface and any actions that make light of sexual assault are deeply offensive and have no place in a respectful, caring community. We are deeply concerned about the actions outlined and understand the seriousness of how they may impact others, including members of our community.”

The university also mentioned that it had received “confirmation” that the person who posted the visual material had been “misidentified as one of the people in the photo” and warned against the “harmful” nature of the misinformation.

According to a spokesperson, the people in the photo are “unconfirmed SDSU students” and their team is “working to confirm additional information,” which will include the location, names and affiliations of the people involved.

“Any behavior that stereotypes or seeks to harm people based on race or ethnicity and downplays the seriousness of sexual assault is directly contrary to our shared university values and undermines our efforts to support inclusion and a sense of belonging for all ” the university insisted.

The video of people dressed as P. Diddy and baby oil for Halloween has been taken down and the account deleted. It is unclear whether it was deleted or deleted by TikTok.

P. Diddy was arrested in September this year after being accused of human trafficking and racketeering. Currently he is staying at the center New York Jail where he is awaiting trial after all his bail attempts were rejected. He denies all charges against him, and his trial is scheduled for May 5, 2025.
