Major blue city mayor scolds media asking about Trump as Hitler: ‘Enough of this’

New York Mayor Eric Adams has condemned the media for asking him questions about former President Trump’s comparisons to Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, saying they are out of touch with the American people.

During his weekly town hall press conference on Tuesday, Adams bristled at questions about whether Trump is a fascist, a line of criticism that has come to the fore following Trump’s recent decision rally at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“With all that is going on, the questions we ask everyday New Yorkers are: Is someone a fascist or maybe someone is Hitler? This is offensive to me. It’s offensive,” he said. “And I have no intention of getting involved in it. Everyone should abandon this rhetoric. Because after Election Day, we must still be the United States, not divided states.”

“And so, if people can’t understand that New Yorkers are facing real problems… and I find it humiliating that what they do every day and what moms and dads across the country go through, what we’re talking about here, this stupid thing ” Adams continued.

Eric Adams delivered the speech

New York Mayor Eric Adams gave a speech in which he admonished the media for reckless comparisons with Nazis.

“So I’m not taking part in it. I will fight for New Yorkers as I have for years, and anyone who cannot understand that is not on the streets. When I’m in these town halls talking to the people there, they don’t ask me these stupid questions.”

Adams went further I warn journalists that, like many politicians, they are in a “bubble” that leaves them out of touch and focused on stories about comparisons to fascism rather than the concerns of ordinary Americans.

“You know, we live in this bubble and I know you really believe in the stories you write. This adds up to a lot of clicks. It’s exciting, it’s making headlines. But that’s not what New Yorkers and Americans want to deal with, people,” he said. “They are afraid of their future. Someone has to stand up and say, ‘Enough is enough.’

He then emphasized his point: “Tone down your rhetoric. Let people hear the facts. Let them vote and let’s decide what the next four years will be like for our city. This is my position. I can’t make it any clearer.”

Adams sharply criticized Trump’s MSG rally on Sunday for promoting “hateful words” from an invited guest, despite Trump’s favorable shout-out to the mayor during the event.

Last week, Adams came to Trump’s defense in response to growing claims by Trump critics, including Harris, that the 45th the president is a “fascist” similar to Hitler.

“Some political leaders in the city made such comments to me. My answer is, ‘No,'” Adams said Saturday when asked about the attacks on Trump.

“I know what Hitler did and I know what a fascist regime looks like. “I think, as I have called for many times, that the level of conversation, I think we can all lower the temperature,” he added. .
