Delta: A court remands a man for allegedly defiling his girlfriend’s two-year-old daughter

A Delta State High Court sitting at Otu-Jeremi in Ughelli South Local Government Area has ordered the remand of Mr. Okiemute Kasi in the custody of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Okere, Warri State for allegedly defiling his girlfriend’s (name withheld) two-year-old daughter.

The court, presided over by the Hon. Judge AA Onojovwo ordered his remand based on available evidence.

According to DAILY POST, the suspect was arraigned by the police on charges of alleged defamation.

In a statement today, the human rights group Initiative for Social Rights Issues and Development (ISRCA), also known as “No Justice, No Peace”, led by National Coordinator Comrade Derrick Oritsematisan Agberen, said the suspect’s identity will be withheld from the public public until he is convicted or acquitted by a court.

The group expressed gratitude to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Divisional Criminal Officer (DCO 1) Otu-Jeremi Division and the Ughelli Area Command for their efforts in seeking justice for the young victim.

It is recalled that on October 10, 2024, ISRCA raised the alarm on its Facebook page over the incident, maintaining that the suspect had seriously harmed the child.

The group, led by its National Coordinator, Comrade (Amb.) Derrick Oritsematisan Agberen, immediately took action to ensure the arrest of the suspect by the Otu-Jeremi Police Division before his case was transferred to the Ughelli Area Command.
