The former NBA star explains the New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns problem

Agent Zero is working on a solution Cities of Charles Anthonyearly struggles with the New York Knicks.

Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas delved into the early woes on his web series “Gil’s Arena” before the Knicks (1-2) embark on a four-game road trip that begins Wednesday night in Miami (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG). . Arenas began by partly blaming the untimely misfortunes on the Knicks’ unfamiliarity with running much of their offense through their inside man.

“That’s why coaching is very important and that’s why training camp should be taken seriously,” Arenas noted. “How many times did (Isaiah) Hartenstein get the ball? Not very often… he bounced it off the window. What’s the difference here? How many years have you gone without passing the ball to a team of five? So no, “I don’t really have many plays for this player as a five, so the fact that he plays as a five and can’t see the ball is just your fault.”

Number of shots in cities has been one of the Knicks’ major concerns early in his career: He’s shooting 50 percent so far, but he’s made just 28 from the field, his lowest mark in his first three games of the year. The former Minnesota Timberwolf, who also made only six three-pointers, recorded 13 points and 10 rebounds Monday’s home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

While Arenas and his cast mentioned that Towns and Jalen Brunson (who took the blame for not getting Towns the ball enough) need to step up, the former Washington Wizard also indirectly chastised head coach Tom Thibodeau for doing so that he did not use the unique skills of the former. He said things might calm down with Mitchell Robinson’s return (which would likely shift Towns back toward a more traditional power forward), but Thibodeau needs to do a better job of dealing with his internal storm if the Knicks are going to make any progress in the early NBA season.

“You don’t have any plays for him, cool. But you’ve been playing this game for a damn long time as a coach. You know there are things you can put into this game that don’t require practice,” Arenas said. “It’s just strange that these old coaches have become so lazy… Right now KAT is in fifth place. How do we get him the ball to be successful now?”

After Wednesday’s game, the Knicks’ road trip will also pass through Detroit, Houston and Atlanta.
