The Pittsburgh Steelers activate IR overtime

When the Pittsburgh Steelers return from their bye Week 9, they will receive additional reinforcements on the offensive line.

Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 in Houston reported on Wednesday, that offensive forward Dylan Cook was named to the 53-man squad off the reserve/injured list.

Cook suffered a foot injury in August, leading to him being placed on injured reserve during final cuts to secure an additional roster spot. However, he was designated to return to the field, which meant the Steelers left the door open for him to return to the field at some point during the season.

The 26-year-old had an open 21-day training window on Oct. 17, just before Pittsburgh’s Week 7 scrimmage against the New York Jets. As expected, he was excluded from the competition, although he was quickly promoted to a full participant during the final session this week.

Cook also participated in full preparations for the Steelers’ Week 8 game against the New York Giants, but was not activated in time to prepare for the game day game.

Given the plethora of injuries this season, Cook’s return is a major development for Pittsburgh as it prepares for its home opener.
