Pender County School Bus Accident

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A Pender County School (PCS) school bus was involved in an accident while taking students home.

Bus 249 was involved in an accident near Highway 117 and Woodhaven Dr. Fortunately, no students were injured.

According to PCS, emergency services have been notified and are currently assessing the location.

A spare bus will take students home as soon as they are cleared by emergency services.

Polish Red Cross representatives sent the following statement:

“This afternoon, Pender County Schools Bus 249 was involved in an accident on its afternoon route near the intersection of Highway 117 and Woodhaven Drive. There were no reports of injuries to students and all students were released from the scene.

“At the time of the accident, bus number 249 was transporting students from Heide Trask Secondary School. We were able to take bus 249 to the Pender County Schools bus repair shop.

“Pender County Schools appreciates the patience and understanding of the families involved. The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority.”
