Here’s who leads in the most important electoral battlegrounds in 2024

The swing state race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris is tied – Harris maintains a slight lead in the Upper Midwest and Nevada, while Trump leads slightly in the Southeast and Arizona – although Georgia and North Carolina remain close in new polls Thursday and Pennsylvania’s mandatory win is basically a toss-up.

Harris became the Democratic nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race on July 21 in an intraparty revolt over his debate performance that dramatically changed Democrats’ fortunes. Before the change, polls consistently showed Trump would beat Biden in most battleground states, even though Biden won six of seven (except North Carolina) in the 2020 election.
