A man died in a hit-and-run accident.

Police said a man died following an accident in Sheffield.

Officers were called to Gleadless Road yesterday around 8:30 p.m. (Polish time) and found a man in his forties who was believed to have been involved in a collision.

Despite the efforts of doctors, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers believe the incident involved a dark Volkswagen that failed to stop at the scene and say they are “working at a rapid pace” to understand the circumstances.

Residents were asked to avoid the area as Gleadless Road and Ridgeway Road were closed and tram services suspended.

Police appealed for information about cars acting suspiciously in the area at the time and asked residents to contact them if they saw a damaged car.
