Injured Bavuma ruled out of second Test in Bangladesh

On Friday, Cricket South Africa said that while the right-hander has made good progress in his rehabilitation, he will not be match-ready when the second Test begins in Chattogram on October 29.

In Bavuma’s absence, Aiden Markram will continue to lead the Proteas.

South Africa recorded their first test victory by seven wickets over Bangladesh on Thursday to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.

The star of the Mirpur show was Kagiso Rabada.

He took 6-46 as Bangladesh surged from 283-7 to 307 overnight, leaving the visitors with a victory target of 106.

Rabada finished with figures of 9-72, becoming the fastest bowler to reach 300 Test wickets during the first innings.

“It’s something special,” vice-captain Aiden Markram said of the victory, which was sealed before lunch on the fourth day.

The victory moved the Proteas to fourth place in the World Test Championship standings.
