An 80-year-old woman died as a result of a fire in seniors’ apartments

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — An 80-year-old woman died Thursday following an apartment fire at a senior center in Memphis, Tennessee, officials said.

The Memphis Fire Department said crews arrived at the scene of the fire and found the woman outside in cardiac arrest. The woman later died, authorities said.

News outlets reported that the apartment is located in a senior center in the Raleigh neighborhood of north Memphis. According to news reports, neighbors pulled the woman from the building before authorities arrived.

There are no other reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
