The Osage City native was named to the World Series lineup for the second time

LOS ANGELES (WIBW) – The bright lights of October are nothing new for the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen.

The Osage City native reached the postseason 6 times with 3 different teams.

He first appeared in three playoff games as member of the Washington Nationals in 2016.

In Games 2, 4, and 5 of the National League Divisional Series (NLDS), he faced his current team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Treinen won Game 2, lost Game 3, and competed in Game 3 no-decision in 2016.

The Nationals lost the 2016 NLDS against the Dodgers.

Treinen played nearly four seasons with the Washington Nationals before starting the new one trip with the Oakland A’s. During his second year with the A’s, the team had a date with the New York Yankees in the 2018 American League Wild Card.

The A’s were eliminated by the Yankees in the single-elimination Wild Card game. Treinen threw himself into defeat.

Oakland won the wild card again in 2019, but lost a close game 1-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays. Treinen finished his final season with A’s and donned a new uniform the following year.

At age 32, Treinen became a Dodger.

Treinen helped the Dodgers win the 2020 World Series. The right-handed defenseman has appeared in the Wild Card, three NLDS games, four NLCS games and, yes, the World Series.

Treinen made a save in Game 5 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Dodgers left Tampa with the trophy after a 4-2 victory.

Treinen’s 2020 postseason ended with a 1-1 record after defending the World Series. He had 10 strikeouts, 9.7 innings pitched, allowed 5 extra-base hits and allowed 9 hits.

The Dodgers fell just shy of returning to the World Series in 2021 after losing to the Atlanta Braves in the NLCS. Treinen pitched 7.5 innings in the 2021 postseason. He struck out 8 batters, allowed 2 walks, no homeruns and finished with a 2.08 ERA.

Treinen would have one appearance the following year after the 2022 season. Treinen allowed a homerun in his first inning of work in Game 2 of the NLDS. The Dodgers lost this game to the San Diego Padres 3-5.

Now, in 2024, Treinen has 30 playoff games under his belt and is looking for a second World Series ring.

Treinen played in Games 1, 4 and 5 of the NLDS postseason. Treinen had his best postseason series of his career against the Padres in the NLDS. Treinen recorded 2 saves, allowed 0 runs, 2 walks and 3 hits. He struck out 4 batters in 3.2 innings pitched.

The reliever had 3 more solid performances in the NLCS against the New York Mets.

He pitched in Games 3, 4 and 6 in the NLCS. Treinen opted out of his first 2024 postseason appearance in Game 6. He finished the NLCS with 4.1 innings pitched, 4 hits allowed, 0 walks and 0 extra-base hits. Treinen scored 7 points in the winning series.

After the 2024 season, Treinen recorded 3 saves, 11 strikeouts and allowed 1 run.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the World Series at 7:08 p.m. ET. The match can be watched on FOX.
