The NYPD is investigating a viral crash on the Belt Parkway caught on dash cam as a possible insurance fraud

BAY RIDGE, Brooklyn (WABC) — Police say that He allegedly faked a car accident in Queens was intended to obtain insurance money and ultimately raise the price of the victim’s insurance.

A suspected intentional crash occurred earlier this month on the Belt Parkway.

The police still haven’t found the people involved, but they did I have one of the cars.

When the car in front of Ashpia Natasha cut into her path, stopped and rear-ended her, she didn’t know what to think.

“When you got out, did you tell the driver why did you just back up and hit me?” – Nina Pineda asked the victim.

“Yes. First I asked him what happened and they said, “I don’t know what happened.” At one point I said, “Why did you turn on me?” They just didn’t want to,” Natasha said.

She was driving on the Belt Parkway and said there wasn’t much talk, but the video showed the four suspects holding their heads and bent at the waist.

Natasha, a home health nurse, says all the pain disappeared when one of the men saw a dashboard camera recording them live.

“You can see that the guy was quick as soon as he saw the dash cam, as if he was going to turn around and leave,” Natasha added.

The suspects abandoned the car and now police from the 68th Precinct are in possession of it. The car looks damaged, there are traces of paint on the bumper.

“The insurance adjuster came and said the damage was estimated at $8,300,” Natasha said.

“Innocent people, driving with their families and having children in the backseat, don’t think that someone is trying to scam them or make money off them, but they are also risking their lives,” said Phil Maltaghati of United Public Adjusters and Appraisers.

Maltaghati warns that anyone involved in an accident should seek help from the police, take photos and videos, move to a safe place and inform their insurance company immediately. He added that most drivers are underinsured, so it’s a good idea to check your liability insurance coverage and use an umbrella policy for more coverage. He also added that he wanted to buy a car camera.

“This woman is very happy to have cameras, that’s all I’ll say,” Maltaghati said.

The video will help Natasha prove that she did not cause any accident or injury.

Some people vandalized a car seized by the police, thus imposing their opinions.
