An SLC firefighter was seriously injured in a fatal crash on an I-15 ramp

COVE FORT, Utah – A Salt Lake City firefighter remains in critical condition after responding to a fire. last week, there was a fatal crash on Interstate 15 in Millard County.

Andy Maxwell was driving a Dodge truck with three minors early the morning of Oct. 17 when a Toyota Corolla traveling south in the northbound lanes struck the truck head-on near the I-70 interchange.

One of the minors in Maxwell’s truck died, as did the 55-year-old driver of the Toyota.

According to A., since the incident, Maxwell has undergone three surgeries and was airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise money for your medical bills.

“Andy is more than just a firefighter and emergency worker – he is a hero,” it was written on the fundraising page. “For over 20 years he was exposed to danger while others fled, always ready to risk his life to save others.

“But what needs help now is a man who has dedicated his life to protecting and caring for others.”

Salt Lake City Fire Department shared the message on social media with a link to GoFundMe in hopes that others will see his family’s plea and help the father of three young children.

“Engineer Maxwell has dedicated his career to helping others through their most difficult times, and now he needs our help.”
