At Hawthorne Elementary, we proudly offer a variety of student leadership opportunities that empower our students and positively impact our school community.

  • Student Council: As the voice of the student council, the Student Council plays a key role in shaping our school environment. Board members represent their classmates, collaborate with the administration, and brainstorm ways to improve the school. They plan events that build school spirit and strengthen a sense of community, helping all students feel connected and heard.
  • Student News Team: Our Student News team keeps the school up to date with important events and activities. Members improve their communication and leadership skills by delivering messages through a variety of platforms such as videos, newsletters and announcements. This team ensures that everyone is engaged in what is happening at our school, while also improving their public speaking and media skills.
  • Conflict managers: Maintaining a calm school environment is key and our conflict managers help with this by helping peers resolve minor disputes. These students have been trained in conflict resolution techniques and play a key role in promoting honesty, respect and kindness among their classmates, making our school a more welcoming place for all.

Each of these leadership roles not only provides essential services to our school, but also helps students develop as responsible, communicative and empathetic individuals. These opportunities allow our young leaders to develop skills that will benefit them both now and in the future.
