Man with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Ballpark

SALT LAKE CITY — A man is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car in the Ballpark neighborhood Friday night. The driver is on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

At 7:45 p.m., authorities responded to a report of a crash on State Street near 1110 South. The initial investigation revealed that a 62-year-old woman was driving southbound when she struck a 22-year-old man as he was crossing the street.

He was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Southbound traffic will be diverted to Main Street at Herbert Avenue; The detour is expected to remain in place for several hours.
