Masked men open fire on school bus in Amroha; no one is hurt

Police said three masked assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on a private school bus in Amroha’s Gajraula area on Friday. There were over 28 students and staff on the bus at the time of the incident. No one was injured, they added.

Police said they had arrested the main accused while they searched for two of his associates who accompanied him.

Superintendent of Police Kumar Anupam said that efforts were on to arrest two men who were with Anuj (22), the main accused.

The attackers shot at the bus twice, but the driver managed to direct the bus to a safe place and inform the school management about the incident.

The school belongs to a local BJP leader.

A case of attempted murder was registered against the three accused based on a complaint lodged by the school bus driver, the SP said, adding that four days ago, the same bus had an accident with several men on bicycles and an argument broke out. between a bus driver and a cyclist.

“The attackers wanted to teach the driver a lesson after an argument with him four days ago,” the SP added.

The bus was carrying 28 children from the same village in the district.
