6 people burned to death in a gas cylinder explosion in N’ganj

Six garment workers were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in a house at Dahargaon in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj district today (October 26).

The injured were: Abul Hossain (50), Shelly Akhter (35), Munni Akter (22), Jewel (20), Ismail (23) and Taslima (16).

The fire broke out after a gas cylinder exploded with a loud bang around 2:30 a.m., resulting in injuries.

They were later taken to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery (SHNIBPS).

All of them suffered 55% burns and their lives are not in danger, said the institute’s resident doctor Tariqul Islam.

Witness Mughal Mia said the fire broke out in the house when someone tried to light a mosquito coil at night.
