Millions of Internet users were moved by the information about a mother from China who was seriously injured in a gas explosion, but managed to save her little son from danger.

Huang Jiamei, a 38-year-old housewife from East China’s Zhejiang Province, was cooking in the kitchen of her home when leaking gas exploded on October 14.

Her two-year-old son, Xu Nuo, was standing behind the closed kitchen door crying for her when the explosion occurred. The door was blown off and a child was trapped under it.

Home security camera footage released by her husband Xu Xiaohui shows Huang running out of the kitchen screaming in pain, but the first thing she did was get her son back.

Despite the peeling skin on her arms, she gently picked her son up and placed him in a safe place.

Huang then called Xu and told neighbors to call the emergency hotline.

Xu, who works as a hair stylist, immediately ran home and was shocked to discover that his wife’s hair was singed, the skin had fallen from her swollen arms and legs, and her face was pale due to the scorching heat.
