Boy dead after crash on US 60 in Mesa; highway partially closed

MESA, AZ (AZ Family) — A boy is dead Friday night after a crash on U.S. 60 near Power Road in Mesa that partially closed the highway.

Around 6:45 p.m., DPS received a report of a single-vehicle collision. Police say passersby stopped and found a woman and three children trapped in the vehicle.

After the DPS and firefighters arrived at the scene, all people were pulled out of the vehicle and taken to the hospital.

Later, a 5-year-old boy died.

The condition of the remaining victims is unknown.

Westbound lanes of US 60 are closed and it is unclear when they will reopen.

The police are still investigating the cause of the accident. Loss of value has not been ruled out.
