Liam Payne lost consciousness in hotel lobby moments before fatal fall: report

Eyewitnesses claim to have seen late singer Liam Payne’s erratic and disturbing behavior at the hotel.

As Argentinian police continue to investigate the circumstances of singer Liam Payne’s death, new details come to light that add more twists to the case. The former One Direction member, who fell from the balcony of his third-floor hotel room, “passed out” in the lobby before he died, according to reports. As several eyewitnesses reported on the latest episode of ABC News Studio’s Impact by Nightline, hotel guests witnessed his disturbing behavior throughout the evening.

Liam Payne, who spent the last days of his life in a Bueno Aires hotel, was seen repeatedly going into the lobby and causing a “disturbance”, prompting staff to escort him back to his room. “He was smashing his laptop in the hall. And when he came downstairs for the last time, he actually fainted in the hotel lobby,” said one of the anonymous guests in the program, quoted by US Weekly.

Guests even recalled multiple encounters with Liam after which the hotel had to call 911 because they feared his life might be in danger, especially when his room had a balcony. The singer was intoxicated and was destroying his room, which alarmed the staff and prompted them to raise the alarm. However, before the first emergency services arrived, Liam fell from the balcony, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

Photos of his hotel room appeared online, showing a grim scenario of a smashed television and possible drugs and other illegal substances. Police in Buenos Aires raided the hotel and reportedly found computer disks and security footage. It looked like they were trying to find out who supplied him with the drugs.

Liam Payne’s autopsy report

According to the autopsy report, after the fall, the singer had numerous “internal and external hemorrhages.” It also revealed evidence of drugs in his system. According to media reports, “Liam was in a state of partial or complete loss of consciousness” when he fell.

Following his death, the news caused an outpouring of grief and sadness among millions of his fans, family and friends, including his One Direction bandmates. While the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have not yet released Liam’s body to his family for last rites.
