The death of Madonna’s younger brother, Christopher Ciccone, left a void in the singer’s heart. A few days after his death from cancer, the 66-year-old paid tribute, recalling the time they spent together. Madonna recently visited her brother’s grave in Michigan, less than a month after his death.

On October 25, Madonna posted a series of photos to her Instagram Stories from a visit to Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin, Michigan, where her brother is buried. Accompanied by her daughter Lourdes Leon, the singer shared a photo of Christopher’s green marble tombstone with the caption, “Back home…”. Another photo shows several red roses placed at her late brother’s resting place.

In the photo below, Madonna kneels in front of another grave, which is believed to belong to her mother, Madonna Fortin Ciccone, who died when the singer was only five years old. Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes, also posed next to her grandmother’s tombstone.

In another clip posted to Madonna’s Instagram Stories, Levon Henry plays Duke Ellington’s Single Petal of a Rose on the saxophone. Moreover, during her stay in Michigan, Madonna also visited her grandmother’s house. She recalled old memories and shared a photo taken in front of her house with the caption, “When I was little, I thought my Nanoos house was a mansion!”

Madonna shared an emotional clip featuring herself and her brother Christopher. In the black-and-white music video, the singer kneels by her mother’s grave and says: “I wonder what she looks like now, she’s just a pile of dust.” Her brother looks at her tenderly. She captioned the video: “Life is a circle.”

Just two days after her brother’s death, Madonna wrote a long note in which she emphasized that he was the “closest man” in her life. Sharing a series of photos with her brother, Madonna wrote that her bond with Christopher was difficult to explain, but she knew it was based on understanding. The 66-year-old told how she “danced” with her younger brother through every difficult stage of her life.

In the same note, Madonna revealed that she did not speak to Christopher for a short time after he released his controversial memoir Life with My Sister Madonna in 2008. However, they reconnected when he fell ill. Christopher died on October 4 after a long battle with cancer.
