Bryan Ferry reflects on age and mortality

Former Roxy Music singer and solo artist Bryan Ferry in a new interview, he reflected on age and mortality, admitting that many friends and fellow musicians have died.

Ferry gained recognition in the glam rock scene in the early 1970s as the band’s frontman Roxy music. He wrote and performed many of their biggest hits, including “More Than This” and “Love Is the Drug”, while also pursuing a successful solo career.

Currently, Ferry is 79 years old and is gradually reducing the frequency of album releases and performances. Ferry may not have released any new material in almost six years, but he has been spending a lot of time in the studio. “I spend most days in the studio and in the evening I go out to dinner, usually with one person,” Ferry revealed during a recent conversation with “Times”..

“I take weekends off to get some fresh air or whatever,” he added, “but basically I work. I don’t do anything else because I’m still trapped here. Music takes time. It’s time, if you know what I mean.

When asked if he still goes to parties, Ferry admitted that he hasn’t for a long time. “I can’t,” he explained. “I don’t like it, I don’t like the noisy environment.” The former Roxy Music frontman then reflected on aging and mortality, acknowledging the deaths of those around him.

“Besides,” he continued, “so many people have died, so many friends and musicians. It’s so sad. I guess I’m getting old.”

Ferry’s latest endeavor is a compilation album highlighting successes from around the world his solo career titled Retrospective: Selected recordings 1973-2023. The description for the five-CD deluxe edition is that it is “the first-ever comprehensive career retrospective, fully exploring the depth and breadth of Bryan Ferry as a solo artist.”

The compilation features a selection of recordings from throughout Ferry’s solo career, including hits such as “Slave To Love” and “Don’t Stop the Dance”, a cover of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” and a selection of rare and previously unreleased songs. songs.
