A 39-year-old man has been arrested following the death of a three-week-old baby in a crash between Kidderminster and Stourport

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a three-week-old baby died in a road accident.

The incident happened on the A451 between Kidderminster and Stourport at around 12.09am on Saturday.

Wyre Forest Police said a black Ford Focus and a black Suzuki Vitara were involved in the collision.

A three-week-old baby traveling in the Suzuki died on the spot. The other two passengers, a man and a woman in their 20s, required hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford Focus was not injured in the collision.

Police have confirmed that a 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

Police said officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the time it happened.

Detective Inspector Steph Arrowsmith said: “A young boy has tragically died and our thoughts are with the child’s parents and wider family at this incredibly depressing time.

“As our investigation continues, a man has been arrested and I am asking anyone who was on the A451 between Kidderminster and Stourport at the time of the collision to contact us.”
