Police are taking urgent action after a man stabbed his 65-year-old aunt

The incident occurred late in the evening, prompting an urgent response from local authorities.

Girema Yahaya, commander of the patrol team of Pantami Division, revealed the timeline of events surrounding the crime.

Yahaya stated:

“We received a distress call at 2:15 a.m. and immediately arrived at the scene.

“Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at Gombe Specialist Hospital.”

According to the state’s statement Police public relations specialist, Buhari Abdullahi, the stabbing occurred around 1:35 a.m. on October 21, 2024, Vanguard reported.

Musa suffered serious chest injuries that ultimately led to her tragic death.

Abdullahi provided further details on the police response, confirming the immediate arrest of the suspect at the scene, The Punch reported.

“The suspect, Jonathan James, was arrested at the scene and the knife used in the crime was seized as evidence,” he said.

He emphasized the seriousness with which the police treat this case.

“The police are taking this matter very seriously and the suspect will soon be charged in court. We condemn this heinous act and will ensure that the perpetrator bears the full brunt of the law,” Abdullahi added.

The shocking nature of the incident left the local community in disbelief. Residents expressed sadness over the tragic loss of Ramatu Musa, known for her kindness and warmth.
