Central Falls schools counselors are available following the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WLNE) — The Central Falls School District announced that counselors will be available to students at Central Falls High School on Saturday after death of a 14-year-old student in a shooting.

In a letter to the community, the district said the high school will be open from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. so students can “access support and collect and share memories.”

The school said counselors come from both the district and Rhode Island Responds and the Rhode Island Behavioral Health Medical Reserve Corps.

Police arrived at Earle Street on the morning of October 24 and found a 14-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She died the next day at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

Moises Maldonado, 18, was arrested on charges of manslaughter in connection with the case.
