Mumbai: Nine people injured in stampede at Bandra railway station over rush to Gorakhpur Express – India News

City officials confirmed that nine people were injured in a stampede at the Bandra railway station on Sunday morning due to the rush to board the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express. The incident took place at 5.56 am on platform number one of Bandra Terminus station as passengers rushed to take their seats in Gorakhpur-bound train 22921.

The injured man was taken to hospital

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said all the injured people were immediately rushed to Bhabha Hospital for medical care. The injured passengers were identified as Shabhir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Shareef Shaikh ( 25), Indrajith Sahani (19) and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18).

This panic highlights the challenges posed by overcrowding during peak hours trip times in Mumbai railroad gas stations, often resulting in critical incidents such as this one. Officials are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the stampede and additional crowd management measures may be considered to increase safety at busy terminals.
