No sexual assaults occurred near Ghormley Park

The Moscow Police Department says a report of a sexual assault that occurred Nov. 11 near Ghormley Park was a false report.

According to a press release from the city, MPD on the University of Idaho campus has completed an investigation into the incident.

Police were told a person walking towards the UI campus suffered sexual assault after a man forced her into a van near Ghormley Park. No description of the vehicle or suspect was provided.

This report prompted the UI to send out a vandal alert alerting people to the alleged incident. In a press release issued after the initial report was released, MPD addressed rumors of a “serial rapist” on the premises of UI and Washington State University. WSU police responded last month to a report of a possible assault in Pullman, but later announced the report was “unfounded.”
