A lawyer was attacked with a sickle by his assistant outside a court building in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the Hosur region.

A 30-year-old lawyer identified as Kannan was attacked by his assistant Anandan while leaving the court. Kannan was in court in connection with the case.

Anandan stopped Kannan and attacked him with a sickle. Even as Kannan fell unconscious to the ground, the attacker repeatedly slashed him in the head with a sickle.

It was reported that Kannan was accused of having an affair with Anandan’s wife. According to the police, there was hostility between them in this case. Kannan was admitted to hospital with serious neck and shoulder injuries, but died during treatment.

Lawyers staged a protest on the Hosur court premises against this brutal murder. The protest was later called off after a discussion between a Hosur court judge and the district police chief. Meanwhile, Anandan, who committed the murder, surrendered.
