The A41 near Prees has been closed in both directions after a crash which left a man trapped

The A41 was closed in both directions after a crash involving a van in nearby Sandford Preeson Thursday around noon.

The Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service received a report of a collision that occurred at the B5065 (Prees) exit at 12:09.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police confirmed a man was cut from the van but he was uninjured.

They said: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a single vehicle collision on the A41 near the junction with the B5065 near Sandford.

“It was reported at around 12.15pm and involved a van. A man was cut from the vehicle, but he was not injured. The road remains closed until the van is recovered.”

At approximately 1:00 p.m., the spokesperson for Market Drayton Fire Station said the road was closed in both directions and urged drivers to avoid the area.

They said: “The A41 is currently closed in both directions between Tern Hill and Whitchurch due to a road collision which occurred on the Sandford bends.

“All emergency services are on site. Please avoid this area if possible.”
