Police nab three bank robbery suspects in Ferozepur

Police on Thursday arrested three people for their alleged involvement in a series of bank robberies in Zira in Ferozepur district.

Saumya Mishra, Senior Superintendent of Police, identified the arrested suspects as Jaspreet Singh alias Jas Gill, Gurvinder Singh alias Nikka and Raqbir Singh alias Raju.

“The stolen items, including six laptops, a 12-barrel gun, six live cartridges, a motorcycle and a knife used in the crime, were recovered,” SSP Mishra said.

According to the police, the accused were involved in two serious burglaries.

“On the intervening night of November 4-5, the trio tried to rob the currency chest of HDFC Bank in Zira by stealing laptops. On the night of November 15-16, they attacked the Bank of Baroda in Zira, from where they stole a 12-barreled gun and ammunition,” the SSP said.

“Cases under relevant sections of the IPC have been registered against the three at Zira police station. An investigation into the matter is ongoing,” the SSP added.
