Mother charged after infant dies following incident in downtown Toronto: Police – CP24

A’s mother the boy who died after being found in a downtown Toronto apartment building on Wednesday, he was charged with the crime.

Police say officers were dispatched to the building near Roselawn and Marlee Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after the father of a four-month-old boy reported him missing.

Police arrived at the Toronto Community Housing building and found an infant with serious injuries.

Life-saving measures were taken, but the child was pronounced dead in hospital.

The police have classified the death as “suspicious” and say that their Homicide and Missing Persons Unit is monitoring the investigation.

The infant’s mother, identified by police as 30-year-old Karessa Edwards, was charged with failure to provide the necessities of life.
