Police issue a Canada-wide arrest warrant for the driver of a semi accused in a fatal crash

Manitoba RCMP have issued a nationwide arrest warrant for the driver of a semi-chauffeur involved in a crash that killed an eight-year-old girl and her mother.

Police on Thursday identified the driver involved in the fatal crash as 25-year-old Navjeet Singh of Brampton, Ont. Singh was charged with two counts: dangerous operation of a motor vehicle resulting in death, and obstructing a peace officer.

The allegations have not been tested in court.

They are related to a fatal crash that occurred last Friday about 8 miles west of Altona, Man. According to the investigators’ findings, the semi-trailer driver did not stop at the intersection and collided with the SUV. A 35-year-old woman driving an SUV and her eight-year-old daughter died in the accident.

The police then reported that the semi-trailer driver was taken to hospital, treated for injuries and released.

However, as of Thursday, RCMP said officers were unable to find Singh.

“Officers unsuccessfully attempted to locate Mr. Singh in Winnipeg, resulting in a Canada-wide arrest warrant being issued,” the RCMP said in a news release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact local police or Pembina Valley RCMP at 204-822-5469. You can also report it to Crime Stoppers.
