Ganja plants grown on agricultural land confiscated in Sangareddy, 1 detained

Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise department on Sunday arrested a person for allegedly cultivating ganja on agricultural land in Sangareddy district.

Based on information, a team of the State Task Force (STF) conducted a search of agricultural land belonging to M. Vittal at Usirikal village in the district and confiscated 16 kg of ganja and 17 ganja saplings, according to Excise Inspector Veena Reddy.

Vittal was found to be cultivating ganja amid cotton crops on his land. After growing the ganja, Vittal cleaned and dried it to sell to people he knew.

Officials said that a month ago, the excise authority had confiscated 29 ganja saplings from the agricultural land of a farmer at Marredpally village in the district.
