Himachal Government is introducing changes in the education system for holistic development of students: CM

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government is making continuous changes in the education system to ensure holistic development of students at all levels.

“The main aim of education is to develop the potential of students and make them responsible citizens,” Sukhu said while addressing an annual event at Pinegrove School in Dharampur, Solan on Sunday.

He informed that in the financial year 2024-25, the education budget in the state has been increased by 17%. compared to last year.

“To prepare students for future challenges, though English medium has been started in government schools from class one, Rajiv Gandhi government boarding schools are being opened in every constituency for the overall development of students,” he said.

Sukhu said, “Our government is making concerted efforts to ensure that students are well-educated and sensitive. To sensitize students to environmental and water protection, it was decided to install rainwater collection systems and connected “roof plants” in boarding schools.

The Prime Minister said that the state government has launched the ambitious Dr YS Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana worth Rs 200 crore to provide better education to deserving students from the poor section of the society.

The state government has decided that under this scheme, eligible students who wish to pursue vocational courses in educational institutions abroad will be able to benefit from this scheme, he added.

He said that libraries are being established at the Gram Panchayat level in the state to provide better education and quality reading material to the students at the village level.

In the first stage, as many as 493 libraries are being created. He said that the 850 educational institutions of the state are developing as excellent educational institutions.

Sukhu said that courses such as artificial intelligence, data science, machine learning and drone training are being started in technical educational institutions to ensure better self-employment and employment for the youth as per future demand.

He said that job fairs and job interviews are also organized in all educational institutions so that young people can find employment according to their capabilities. He said that apart from education, the government also pays attention to the health of young people.

“Mukhyamantri Bal Poshan Aahar Yojana has been started to provide nutritious food to students at school level. As many as 15,181 children in the state up to class eight are benefiting from this program,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that the state government was bearing the education and other expenses of five thousand orphaned children under the Chief Minister Sukha Ashray Yojana.

The state government is making efforts to provide quality education to all young people in the state close to their homes, he said.
