JEE candidate allegedly dies by suicide in Kota, Rajasthan; 21st case this year

The latest incident has taken the number of similar incidents in Rajasthan’s coaching centers to 21 this year, of which as many as 19 took place in Kota and one each in Sikar and Jaipur.

An 18-year-old student preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for admission to any engineering college died by suicide in Rajasthan’s Kota district on Saturday morning, police said.

According to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jawahar Nagar police station, Hari Narayan Sharma, a student from Madhya Pradesh, came to Kota in April and stayed at a hostel in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar area of ​​Kota.

“On Saturday he decided to take an extreme step. After receiving the information, the hostel staff took him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead,” the SHO said.

The police also reported that no suicide note has been found from him so far.

“An FSL team was also called in to investigate the spot. His parents have also been informed,” Sharma said.
