EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A Vanderburgh County release confirms police responded to an assault taking place near Washington Square Mall.

According to the dispatcher, the report was received on Friday at 7:03 p.m

An EPD sergeant who responded to the scene told us that upon arrival they found a person on the ground. The victim told police he lived in a nearby apartment and saw an older model car eating donuts in the parking lot.

Authorities say the victim stood in front of the vehicle and a verbal argument began.

The victim grabbed the steering wheel, then jumped out of the vehicle and ran over it.

Police have no information about the vehicle other than it is a green car of an older make and model.

According to an EPD sergeant, the victim was taken to the hospital and may have internal injuries but appears to be OK.
