Man shot and killed near Phoenix Sky Harbor

PHOENIX (AZ family) — Phoenix police say a man was shot early Sunday morning in a neighborhood north of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Rob Scherer tells an Arizona family that the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. near 23rd and Fillmore streets, north of Van Buren.

Officers arrived on scene and found one person who had been shot. He died on the spot.

It’s unclear if detectives are still looking for a suspect, but investigators have closed the area.

No other information has been released. This is the second fatal shooting in the valley in less than six hours.

Earlier in the morning, Glendale police received information about a shooting in which a man had been shot outside a home. The man later died at a local hospital.
