A New Jersey man charged with attempted murder after stabbing a local business





OAKLAND, NJ — A 34-year-old man faces attempted murder and armed criminal charges after he stabbed a man at an Oakland establishment Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The incident occurred on November 21 at approximately 2:56 p.m., when Oakland police received a report of a stabbing at 455 Ramapo Valley Road. Officers who arrived at the scene found a 53-year-old man with stab wounds, but the suspect escaped.

Police quickly detained the alleged attacker, identified as Jose Higinio Ramos Solis of Oakland, a short distance from the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, although his condition was not released.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Ramos Solis allegedly approached the victim inside the premises and attacked him with a large knife. Following an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Oakland Police Department, Ramos Solis was charged with attempted first-degree murder, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Ramos Solis is in the Bergen County Jail awaiting his initial hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
