According to the arrest report, after officers located two damaged cars in the area, they found Steele lying on the ground. Officers said she then allegedly told police she was driving south on Ashland when she hit another car.

At the scene, officers allegedly observed an open bottle of red wine on the passenger side floorboard. Another officer said he also observed that Steele’s eyes were bloodshot and there was a strong odor of alcohol on her breath.

The arrest report states that when the officer asked Steele how much she had drank, she replied, “I need my lawyer and I’m not talking to you.”

Officers said that when asked to perform a field sobriety test, Steele refused and was seen rocking back and forth during her initial interview with police.

While talking to police, officers said Steele began complaining of head injuries. She was taken to the hospital, where after being discharged, she was arrested for driving under the influence.

According to the arrest report, while the officer was reading “Steele’s Warning to the Driver,” she allegedly began asking him repeatedly, “Is your dick so small?”

After being released from the hospital, Steele was taken back to the 20th District for treatment. She was then issued a summons and given a trial date.

Following her arrest, Sean Morrison, Cook County Commissioner for the 17th District and chairman of the Cook County Republican Party, called on Steele to resign.

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Samantha Steele was recently arrested for DUI following an alarming incident in Chicago. Reports indicate that Steele hit multiple cars. Following her arrest at the scene, Steele allegedly acted aggressively towards a responding police officer, making derogatory comments of a sexual nature, and continued this aggressive behavior throughout the arrest and booking process. This incident raises serious concerns about her conduct and judgment as an elected official. If an elected official does not respect our dedicated police officers, how can we expect citizens to respect the police? “Given the seriousness of the incident and the blatant lack of respect for law enforcement, it is in the public interest for Commissioner Samantha Steele to resign from her position on the Cook County Board of Audit in order to restore public trust and accountability,” Morrison said in a statement.

Steele, who represents the Second District on the Board of Review, is from Bridgeport and currently lives in Evanston.
