Makueni: Several students have been injured following a gruesome school bus accident

What caused the accident in Makueni?

The accident occurred on Saturday evening, November 23, when the school bus lost control and overturned, leaving students trapped inside.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.keKenya Red Cross Society Senior Communications Officer Ahmed Munir confirmed that rescue teams were dispatched to the scene and successfully rescued the students.

Munir further confirmed that there were no fatalities in the incident and only 11 students were injured.

“The Makueni government has dispatched a rescue team. Good thing there were no fatalities. However, 11 students sustained injuries,” Munir said.

The injured students were taken to Mbooni Referral Hospital where they are currently receiving medical attention.

Bus carrying students of Kwale Girls Secondary School crashes

In another incident, at least three students from Kwale Girls Secondary School were recovering from injuries after their bus crashed while returning from the Kenya National Music Festival in Eldoret.

The accident occurred in Samburu. According to Radio Kaya, on Monday, August 12, a bus in which teachers accompanying students were also traveling overturned.

Photos from the scene he showed overturned a bus lying by the road, with a man sitting on the broken window.

Despite continuous efforts by the National Transport and Safety Authority to improve road safety, the number of road accidents in the country continues to increase.
