Supervisor suspended due to negligence in caste census forms

Hyderabad: M. Jyothi, in-charge of the tahsildar’s office in Kapra Mandal, was suspended and issued notice for non-provision of caste census forms, which as per norms have to be secured in crates and transported.

The campaign was based on census forms found strewn on the roads of Tarnaki in Hyderabad state. The forms belonging to ward 27 of Jawaharnagar Municipal Corporation were identified. District Collector Gowtham Potru ordered the Jawaharnagar Municipal Commissioner and the superintendent concerned to initiate an inquiry.

After investigation, they found that the documents fell from Jyothi’s private vehicle while she was transporting them. HMWS&SB staff reviewed the forms and informed the city commissioner. Officials said all forms have been recovered and stored.

Meanwhile, the GHMC said that 72.02 per cent of households amounting to 17.47 lakh have been surveyed. On Saturday, 1.09 million houses were inspected, including the residence of Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari in Jubilee Hills.

Elsewhere, with the caste census completed in several districts and nearing completion in many others, the state government on Saturday started digitizing the data collected.

Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari directed the collectors to supervise the data entry process and ensure that it was carried out properly. She stressed the importance of securing survey documents and treating data with the utmost care.

To streamline the process and ensure efficient handling of survey details, collectors began computerizing the collected data. Counters and data entry operators have been instructed to carefully check details during digitization to prevent discrepancies.

The ongoing survey has identified 1,16,93,698 households, of which 89.8 per cent or 1,05,03,257 households have been included in the survey. As of Saturday, data relating to 2,61,384 households had been digitized.
