A Kansas City man could face life in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting a child

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A Kansas City man could face life in prison after being charged in connection with the sexual assault of a child over a five-month period.

Clay County, Missouri, District Court Records filed on Wednesday, November 20 show that Charles G. Hedinger, 68, of Kansas City, was charged in connection with the sexual assault of a child.

The binding statement said the crimes are believed to have occurred between December 1, 2021 and May 31, 2022. Hedinger was charged with statutory sodomy of a child under 12 years of age.

If convicted, Hedinger could face life in prison without the possibility of parole until he has served 85% of his sentence. As of Saturday, November 23, he does not appear to be in jail and no arrest warrant has been issued.

An arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, at 8:30 a.m. No further information was provided.
