A New Albany man has been arrested for allegedly shooting to death his neighbor

NEW ALBANY, Pennsylvania (WETM) — A New Albany man faces charges after police say a dispute with a neighbor ended in a shooting.

Isaiah Covert, 25, was arrested after the incident that occurred on Morris Road in Overton Township. According to the Pennsylvania State Police Department, Covert and his 75-year-old neighbor were involved in a fight that escalated around 11 a.m. on Nov. 6.

Police say the 75-year-old fired two gunshots during the argument. While in the roadway near their homes, Covert allegedly fired his firearm multiple times.

The elderly man was shot in the stomach and arm. He was taken to Robert Packer Hospital in serious condition, and his current condition is unknown.

Covert was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with extreme indifference to the value of human life (a first-degree felony) and assault with a deadly weapon (a second-degree felony).

Covert is currently being held in the Bradford County Jail without bail due to the nature of these charges and unrelated charges pending in Northumberland County. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 27.
