Metro police say a man is seriously injured after he was involved in two crashes on Briley Parkway

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – After his vehicle was involved in a crash on Briley Parkway near the Opryland area Friday night, a Nashville man fled the scene and was hit by another car, leaving him fighting for his life, according to reports. hospital.

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said a 23-year-old man fled the scene of the first two-vehicle crash that occurred Friday, Nov. 22, in the northbound lanes of Briley Parkway, through the concrete median and southbound lanes. to the Opryland Hotel property. Witnesses provided a description of his clothing.

Authorities said an officer responding to the scene from the Hermitage police station saw Opryland security with a man in the parking lot of the Inn at Opryland on Music Valley Drive. However, when the officer pulled up and got out of the car, the man allegedly fled.

“The officer attempted to detain (the man) using a Taser, but it was ineffective, likely due to the heavy coat (the man) was wearing,” officials said.

According to police, the man jumped over the guardrail and ran onto the southbound off-ramp of Briley Parkway, where he was immediately struck by a Dodge Challenger. He was taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center, where he is currently in “life-threatening critical condition,” law enforcement said.

At the time of Friday’s incident, authorities said the man was on three years of supervised probation for reckless endangerment and a marijuana conviction from September 2023.

The driver of the Dodge – identified by authorities as 30-year-old Jerry Holt II of Nashville – has not been charged in the hit-and-run death of the 23-year-old. Holt, however, faces gun and drug charges because he had a gun in his waistband and a backpack in the Dodge containing 0.75 pounds of marijuana and a scale, MNPD said.

No additional details were provided about Friday’s accidents.
