A woman allegedly shot her boyfriend in a romantic location

A woman allegedly shot her boyfriend in a romantic location

A Texas grand jury indicted a woman on Thursday who is accused of assaulting her then-boyfriend in a shooting that left him in the hospital for weeks – and now she’s speaking out.

Alexys Pinto, 23, was arrested in September and charged with aggravated assault in the nonfatal shooting of her then-boyfriend, Elvis Muñoz, according to Harris County court records reviewed by HuffPost. Pinto was released last week after a judge reduced her bail from $75,000 to $10,000.

Muñoz told the locals KHOU, CBS affiliate that he is afraid “Maybe she’ll want to come back and do something.”

According to a criminal complaint obtained by HuffPost, Muñoz, a mechanic, told police that on September 5, he received a work vehicle from a customer that he could work on while he was home with Pinto.

Shortly after the customer parked his car in the driveway, Pinto confronted Muñoz. In the complaint Muñoz described Pinto as irritated and she began struggling with him as he tried to calm her down. He said Pinto at one point brutally kicked their dog.

The complaint states that at some point during the argument, Pinto asked Muñoz to take her to a romantic location where they had previously watched the sunset together. Muñoz said he repeatedly asked his then-girlfriend why she wanted to go there, but she persisted.

Muñoz told police he eventually drove them to that location, but seconds after he pulled onto the road, Pinto ran out of Muñoz’s truck. Muñoz said he chased Pinto and shouted at her to come back. However, when he caught up with her, she allegedly hurled curses at him.

“Teach me about deer hunting. Do you really think I’m going to hunt deer here?” she said regarding the complaint.

Confused, Muñoz asked Pinto what he meant. Then he heard a shot.

“I literally couldn’t believe it,” Muñoz he told ABC affiliate KTRK. “I looked down and started seeing all the blood flowing down my body, gushing out.”

The complaint states that Muñoz suffered a gunshot wound to his hand and chest. The next thing he knew, Pinto was holding a black gun.

Muñoz told police he didn’t believe it and thought he had to run, but Pinto fired more shots at him, according to the complaint. Muñoz said he heard Pinto tell someone on the phone, “He shot me,” and then tried to interrupt, saying, “No, I didn’t do it.”

Pinto then looked at Muñoz and said, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that to you, I didn’t shoot you in the right places!” according to the complaint. Pinto stood over him and pointed a gun at his face, then shot him again, hitting him in the hand rather than killing him.

“As soon as I opened my eyes, (I saw) a gun put to my head. I look and see her like she was happy to put a gun to my head,” Muñoz told KTRK.

Muñoz told police that he asked Pinto several times to call an ambulance, but she replied, “I didn’t mean to do that to you, it was supposed to be quick!” according to the complaint.

In an interview with NBC affiliate KPRC, Muñoz said he did everything he could to convince Pinto to seek help, including promising to tell police he didn’t know who shot him.

“I told her I love her and I still want to be with her, I want to still grow up with her, have kids with her and I’m just trying to get inside her head to convince her to help me,” Muñoz told KPRC. “I begged her to call an ambulance, call an ambulance.”

The complaint says the two returned to Muñoz’s truck and drove to a nearby gas station. Surveillance footage cited in the complaint shows Pinto getting out of the truck and talking to the seller while Munoz sits in the passenger seat, holding his stomach.

Muñoz was taken to hospital, where after the attack he underwent numerous surgeries and spent over a month in the hospital, by collection launched by his sister.

“Every day brings new challenges,” the sister wrote on GoFundMe.

Muñoz told KPRC he still doesn’t know why Pinto shot him, but wonders how he was treated during his three-year relationship with her.

“I always worked hard to take care of her as best as I could. Sometimes I didn’t even eat just so she could eat a nice plate,” Muñoz told the outlet. “She will be jealous, controlling, and isolate me from my family and friends. She holds a grudge.”

Court records show police arrested Pinto on September 17 and a judge granted Muñoz a protection order. An attorney listed as Pinto’s legal representative did not immediately respond to an email from HuffPost regarding the allegation.
