Ludhiana: Sales employee, helper convicted of stealing liquor cartons

The first information report (FIR) was registered following the statement of Sandeep Kumar of Mohalla Ramesh Nagar, Ludhiana, in-charge of a liquor company

On Sunday, Tibba police fined a liquor store employee and his assistant for allegedly stealing cartons of alcohol, officials said.

A liquor company executive said that on October 14, Jaspreet Singh loaded several cartons of liquor from a shop in Mohalla Guru Gobind Singh Nagar in Ludhiana into his vehicle and drove away. The accused Prince Rana quit his job after the case was registered.

The police identified his aide as Jaspreet Singh alias Jass, a wine company driver.

The first information report (FIR) was registered following the statement of Sandeep Kumar of Mohalla Ramesh Nagar, in-charge of the liquor company.

He said that on October 14, Jaspreet Singh loaded several cartons of liquor from a shop in Mohalla Guru Gobind Singh Nagar into his vehicle and drove away. When questioned, the accused Prince Rana said that the alcohol was being transferred to another shop.

The complainant stated that during the inspection he asked the manager of the liquor store about the change of the place where alcohol was sold and learned that he was not aware of it. He later determined that the defendant had stolen alcohol and both defendants left their jobs.

Sub-Inspector Sham Singh, who is investigating the case, said the FIR has been registered under Section. 381 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and a hunt is on to arrest the accused.
