Today’s best NBA prop bets (Tyrese Haliburton, Zion Williamson, Warrior predictions

While it may be week eight of the NFL season, the NBA is still in action for the sixth time this season, with a five-game schedule on October 27.

There are many ways to bet on the NBA every night, but my favorite is always the prop market because targeting specific players is a great way to get involved in more games without relying on the final score to dictate your bet.

On Sunday, I want to pick four players, including two All-Star defensemen who have had a poor start to the 2024-25 season.

Let’s break down the plays!

Tyrese Maxey OVER 29.5 points (-110)

We start with a prop from mine daily NBA Best Bets columnTyrese Maxey, Philadelphia 76ers guard, will have a strong shooting performance after two difficult games to open the season:

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Tyrese Maxey hasn’t shot well so far this season, shooting 10-for-31 from the field and 6-for-23 from the field in the first two games, and just 4-for-21 from beyond the arc. bow.

With Joel Embiid and Paul George still out, Maxey could be relied on to shoulder a huge load in this offense, and his efficiency (54 shots in two games) is a positive sign for him in this position.

Last season, Maxey averaged 25.9 points per game on 45.0% from the field and 37.3% from 3 on 20.3 shots per game. He’s taking 27 shots per game on the season, but is shooting just 29.6 percent from the field and 19.0 percent from 3. That will change at some point, so I’m not betting on him here considering PG and Embiid are still in out of the way.

The Indiana Pacers have struggled defensively in the 2024-25 season, ranking 26th in the league in defense and scoring over 120 points in Friday’s loss to the New York Knicks.

Don’t be surprised if Maxey gets back on track in this matchup and he should flirt with 30 points even if he doesn’t shoot efficiently. In his first two games this season – despite shooting over 30 percent from the field – Maxey scored 25 and 24 points.

Trayce Jackson-Davis OVER 5.5 rebounds (-120)

Golden State Warriors second-year player Trayce Jackson-Davis had nine rebounds against the Utah Jazz on Friday and has 13 in the first two games of the season.

Steve Kerr is starting TJD, which gives him a solid foundation in that area, and the Warriors may need to play stronger against Los Angeles Clippers center Ivica Zubac (24 points, 15 rebounds on Saturday).

Despite playing just 16.6 minutes per game last season, mostly on the bench, Jackson-Davis averaged 5.0 rebounds per game. In two games this season, he is averaging 12.0 rebounding opportunities per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.

TJD, who has just 5.5 rebounds, could be undervalued if his minutes are closer to 25 than 20 on Sunday.

Zion Williamson OVER 11.5 assists and rebounds (-120)

One of my favorite props of the night (also in my Best NBA Bets column) is for New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson:

After missing the New Orleans Pelicans’ season opener due to illness, star star Zion Williamson returned to action on Friday and played 29:06 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The former No. 1 overall pick had a strong game on the glass, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out seven assists. While Zion made just 4 of 15 shots from the field, he was heavily involved as an offensive initiator when Dejounte Murray (broken hand) was sidelined.

I buy Zion as a rebounder and playmaker in Sunday’s rematch with Portland. He recorded 18 rebounds and assists in his season debut, but his prop market score is just 11.5 on Sunday.

“Point Zion” could make another appearance against the Blazers – and start the season this season – until Murray is able to return to action.

Zion had 17 rebound chances in his first game of the season, according to NBA.com, and with the Pelicans lacking a true center in the rotation, he’ll have to hit the glass on a nightly basis.

That number is too low to include total assists and rebounds for the former MVP.

Tyrese Haliburton UNDER 3.5 scored 3 points (-166)

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton has had a rough start this season.

He was just 1-of-16 from beyond the arc in two games and didn’t score a single point (0-of-8 from the field, 0-of-7 from 3) in a disastrous loss to the New York Knicks on Friday night.

Now Haliburton will look to make up for the deficit at home on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers, but I can’t beat his three-point lead (set at 3.5) in this game.

Hali averaged 2.8 made 3-pointers per game last season and is aiming to average 8.0 per game this season, but until we see him get out of that situation, asking him to take four or more long-range shots is a stretch. too many.

Philly has also allowed just 11.0 3s per game in two games this season – sixth-most in the NBA.
