A day after a Delhi policeman lost his life in a fatal stabbing incident in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area, officials on Sunday (November 24) said that one of the main accused in the case was shot dead during an encounter with police in Sangam Vihar area. . According to the information released, the deceased was identified as Raghav, who along with two accomplices (Deepak Max and Krish Gupta) allegedly attacked police constable Kiran Pal when he was on night patrol on Saturday.

Police said that while Deepak Max and Krish Gupta were arrested only on Saturday, the third accused, Raghav, who allegedly stabbed Pal, remains at large. However, after receiving information about Raghav’s location in Sangam Vihar, the police quickly took action to arrest him.

A senior police officer said, “Acting on specific information, teams from New Delhi Range Special Cell (NDR) and Southeast District Narcotics Cell rushed to Sangam Vihar late on Saturday evening to arrest the accused. Despite being asked to surrender, Raghav opened fire on the police, who retaliated in self-defense, injuring him.”

The official added, “He was immediately taken to ESIC hospital in Okhla, but he succumbed to his injuries.” Raghav recovered the pistol and two bullets.

About the event

The three accused were involved in the brutal stabbing of Constable Kiran Pal, who was stationed at Govindpuri Police Station. The policeman was on night patrol when the three attacked him after he detained them for questioning in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the officers, when the policeman tried to stop the accused (who was riding a two-wheeler), they initially threw stones at him in an attempt to avoid arrest. However, Pal managed to block their path by placing his bicycle in front of their vehicle. When he took the keys to their vehicle and began questioning them, the three allegedly stabbed him.

Constable Kiran Pal cremated

Meanwhile, on Sunday, deceased police officer Kiran Pal was cremated with state honors. The last rites were attended by several senior Delhi Police officers, including Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora.

“We pay our sincere tributes to our brave police officer Kiran Pal, who made the ultimate sacrifice by showing immense courage and commitment while discharging his duties at Govindpuri Police Station. “All Delhi Police personnel sympathize with the bereaved family,” the Delhi Police post on X read.
